Verification Codes to Prove You're Not a Robot? Seriously?

I really don't get why they have these things. Robots barely exist right now, and we had these prove you're not a robot thingies before we even had robots. How does that do anything? I am always dyslexic with things like this and I have to squint at those stupid weird letters mashed together that make a fake word that you can't even pronounce.

I try to post comments on other blogs and when I get to the verification thing, I'm sitting here like, And...that's the first word? Seriously? What is with this?! Then I look at all the confusing irregular shaped lettered word. I do this:
Lablooionbf? Is that what it says? Oh never mind! I SURRENDER!!

I really can't read those things. I end up pressing that "new code" button a million times until I come to one I might be able to do.

These things are pointless.

  1. Ugh, you're not alone. I hate those things, and as far as I know I don't make people who want to comment do them... but I think they're more for hackers/automated spam stuff than anything else.

  2. That makes sense, but they always say "To Prove You're Not a Robot" and you're like, "A robot? Why would I be robot?" It's weird.
